Chimney fires are an all too frequent occurrence in many homes every year. To help prevent a chimney fire occurring in your property, should you use an open fire, you should ensure your chimney is swept as often as recommended by the Solid Fuel Association.

A Brief HistoryD D Moore Chimney Sweep Company was started through necessity. As a serving member of the Fire Service, I started to notice an increase in chimney fires. After each fire the owner or occupier of the premises was questioned how often they had had their chimney swept. A large percentage asked "Do chimney sweeps still exist?" As I was thinking about my retirement and looking for a trade or business to start up I thought chimney sweeping might be the answer. After acquiring funds for training from the Fire Service I set about gathering as much information and training as possible. Now I am a member of APICS and a HETAS approved chimney sweep. This year I have started a City&guilds/NVQ in chimney engineering and hope to complete and pass it within a year. I now cover an area from East London to the mouth of the Thames and as far north as Chelmsford and Maldon although I do have some clients further afield. To improve my business I have made contact with chimney sweeps and fire engineers as far afield as the USA, Germany and most of the representative bodies in the UK to do with solid fuel fires and technology. Mission StatementMy mission is to provide the friendly and personal touch of a small business with the efficiency and professionalism of a large company. |
